The Albion

Islington | Pub

We are lucky enough to have a local that is super dog friendly, serves great food and is charming to boot. So when it came to celebrating our brother Bouche's birthday it was the obvious choice for a birthday lunch with our pal Michelle! We have been frequenting the Albion for over 10 years (we live 5 mins away) and have had a consistently warm welcome - even taking six dogs on one occasion! Not only does it boast one of the best beer gardens in London - it's huge - but the indoor dining areas are cozy and comfortable, perfect for wet and cold winter days. When we went we already knew what we were having. (And where we wanted to sit - insider tip, there's a hidden nook in the main dining room wall which seats two humans and small/medium doggos.) The human menu changes seasonally and the food is consistently good. Our human ordered the Albion cheeseburger which is one of her go to dishes - super juicy on a brioche bun and with triple cooked chips, and we ordered a separate sausage to share. Our friend ordered a mushroom dish that looked very appetising even though we prefer meat with our vegetables. She's a vegetarian so is often not that pleased with pub veggie offerings but this got top marks! We had a delightful visit and received lots of fuss and cuddles. A special mention must go to the staff who made us feel super welcome, our server even had 5 border terriers and is a clear dog fan. We were immediately provided with gravy bones and water while our humans perused the drinks menu and we waited for our sausage. We then settled in to enjoy our meal - with the added bonus of having some of the delicious burger beef too! Our famous anecdote about the Albion is our recently departed brother Balou the Leonberger was once sent over a whole steak by another diner while we were there. So not only is the Albion dog friendly, it attracts dog lovers too. One word of warning - their Sunday roasts are incredibly popular so if you want to enjoy one then do make sure to book in advance. We will continue to visit the Albion and recommend it to all our pals, furry and human.

With its wisteria covered facade and log fires, The Albion provides the perfect location to entertain, relax and forget the stresses of modern life, combining a central Islington location, just off Upper Street, with a picturesque walled garden situated within the Barnsbury conservation area.

Unfortunately it's only their courtyard and bar that are dog-friendly, the restaurant isn't.

This is our local pub and we love going here as they are so welcoming and dog friendly! Dogs welcome in the bar/ restaurant area and outside in their garden/ courtyard too. The humans say they do really good roast dinners and yummy desserts!

Loved it here! They took us in last minute when we were let down by our booking with Brindisa 2 doors down. We were even allowed to sit indoors. The humans loved their cocktails and food - Turkish twist on brunch! The chefs even made me my own pup friendly bacon and eggs. I saw they offered a fellow pup a doggy bed to use which is a nice touch but I preferred to use my own bag for a post brunch nap.

Well behaved doggos on leads are welcome inside this festive event! It gets a bit busy so I stayed mostly in my bag but I enjoyed stealing some of the humans bratwurst and even got my own puppacino from the bar!
