Richard 1st

Located on the historic Royal Hill, a stones throw away from the centre of Greenwich, and only 400m from Greenwich DLR station. The Richard the First is proud to have been at the heart of the local community since 1923. Upon entering you are greeted by the traditional bar space which is the heart of the pub. To the rear of the pub youll find our stunning conservatory, a relaxing drinking and dining space showered in natural light. Beyond that, our beautiful beer garden. A large, open space bathed in sun during the summer and covered by our winter marquee in the winter. We specialise in Youngs award winning ales, craft beers, and delicious, nostalgic British food. We are the perfect location for a relaxed post work drink or a family and friend gathering.

Richard 1st

The Richard 1st is a Young’s pub in Greenwich and is just a short walk from Greenwich Park on the very lovely Royal Hill. I recently took my friend Betsy Boo there for dinner to see how dog friendly they are and the answer is - VERY. We doggies are allowed everywhere even in the restaurant area. There is a nice space at the front of the pub which is on a very quiet road. Inside there is a bar area, the restaurant and a large back garden. It was a hot day so we opted to sit in the restaurant which has air conditioning and is nice and spacious. We were brought water and the staff were very welcoming, even asking our names. While Betsy and I enjoyed our own treats, the humans sampled the fish and chips and the burger. They said it was really good ‘pub grub’. The menu “reflects the nostalgia British dishes that make you smile and think of home and family.” A fabulous dog friendly pub to try after a walk in Greenwich Park.

Unfortunately it's only their courtyard and bar that are dog-friendly, the restaurant isn't.

This is our local pub and we love going here as they are so welcoming and dog friendly! Dogs welcome in the bar/ restaurant area and outside in their garden/ courtyard too. The humans say they do really good roast dinners and yummy desserts!

Loved it here! They took us in last minute when we were let down by our booking with Brindisa 2 doors down. We were even allowed to sit indoors. The humans loved their cocktails and food - Turkish twist on brunch! The chefs even made me my own pup friendly bacon and eggs. I saw they offered a fellow pup a doggy bed to use which is a nice touch but I preferred to use my own bag for a post brunch nap.

Well behaved doggos on leads are welcome inside this festive event! It gets a bit busy so I stayed mostly in my bag but I enjoyed stealing some of the humans bratwurst and even got my own puppacino from the bar!
