Tried and True
Unable to recreate the wild black sand west coast beaches, reckless road rage, and volcanic beauty of New Zealands largest city, our founder created a cool local cafe, just like the one round the corner from the (legendary) garage in Mt Eden. Thats the one where tall tales of the night before, plans for the day ahead and wild schemes for the future were discussed with good friends and flatmates over eggs benedict and a couple of flat whites. Or maybe french toast with bacon and a cheeky long black. There were only two rules, the best food and the best coffee. The first cafe opened in West Putney in early 2012 and it is called Tried & True because were not trying to be clever.

Tried and True
This friendly cafe in Putney has the motto - “if we are child friendly, then we are dog friendly as dogs are not as messy”. We love the way they think! I have been here many times and am always made very welcome, there is always water available and they have a large jar of treats for us on the counter. There are a few tables out front but it is on a very busy road. They also have a small back garden which is only in use in good weather. The cafe gets very busy at weekends because they do an excellent brunch and the humans also love their coffee. There is room enough inside for dogs of all sizes and they don’t mind us sitting on the seats. Archie 🐾🐾

This is our local pub and we love going here as they are so welcoming and dog friendly! Dogs welcome in the bar/ restaurant area and outside in their garden/ courtyard too. The humans say they do really good roast dinners and yummy desserts!

Loved it here! They took us in last minute when we were let down by our booking with Brindisa 2 doors down. We were even allowed to sit indoors. The humans loved their cocktails and food - Turkish twist on brunch! The chefs even made me my own pup friendly bacon and eggs. I saw they offered a fellow pup a doggy bed to use which is a nice touch but I preferred to use my own bag for a post brunch nap.

Well behaved doggos on leads are welcome inside this festive event! It gets a bit busy so I stayed mostly in my bag but I enjoyed stealing some of the humans bratwurst and even got my own puppacino from the bar!

Great for a rest in after a stroll in Green park. Lots of big TVs for the humans to watch live sports.

The humans said the pizza here was super tasty, but wouldn’t let me try any! I got a nice cosy spot for my bag under the table for a post-walk nap. Ladywell fields is a couple minutes walk away for a pre/post meal walkies.

A great place to stop for a rest after a walk at Ladywell fields. Lots of yummy fresh pastries, breads, sandwiches to try and coffee to wake the human up on those early walks! Mumma says they also do the most amazing french cakes and patisseries!

Great place for the meat lovers! I got cuddles and my own bowl of water. Mumma and her friends got their paws very messy with all the bbq food, apparently not suitable for pups though!

The humans visited here before they had me and said the food was delicious! The owners told them how they offer cushions for dogs to sit on! They enjoyed watching the resident dog trying to escape from his pen.

Pawfect place to stop in after a long stroll in Greenwich park! Bear in mind pups are only allowed in the front part of the restaurant so be sure to mention this when you book as it gets busy! Inside looks great, makes for great photos for the gram! Humans love their coffee, cocktails and brunch - so everything on offer really!
