Time for a Weekender - where to enjoy a London pawcation.

We are biased of course, but we can't think of a better place to have a weekend break with your pooch than our very own capital city.

London is not only packed with things to do and see but has over 35,000 acres of green space for walkies (even the fastest greyhound couldn't cover that in a weekend!) and hundreds of wonderful places you can dine out with your dog.

We will be running a number of staycation blogs over the summer so to kick us off here are 5 dog friendly hotels that are perfect for a doggie mini break.

Hoxton Hotels

There are 3 Hoxton Hotels in London; Southwark, Holborn and Shoreditch and they are all extremely dog friendly.

In the room you will find a bed for pooch along with bowls and treats and the staff will make you and doggies very welcome.

All 3 hotels welcome dogs in the bar/lounge areas of their restaurants which are all spacious and comfortable. You can have breakfast in your room or pooch can join you in the bar/lounge.

We have stayed at all three locations with Archie and can highly recommend.

The Rosewood Hotel

The Rosewood in Holborn is a luxury hotel where they take special care of furry friends as well as their humans.

The rooms are equipped with everything a pampered pooch needs including a bed, toys, bowls and treats or if you want the full pampering experience you can book their Canine Package in partnership with Barbour and Lily's Kitchen. The experience includes a personal butler (don't all dogs have these anyway?), a spa treatment for you and pooch and much more.

They even have a pet sitting service in case you want to dine elsewhere but why would you when doggies can join you in any of their restaurants and bars. If you don't fancy staying over, we highly recommend a visit to try their food this summer.

The Milestone Hotel

You'll know how dog friendly The Milestone is before you even get through the door from the greeting you will receive from Steven, London's most famous doorman (pictured with Archie in main image).

The hotel is perfectly situated to explore London and is directly opposite Hyde Park and when you book you will be sent a Pet Preference form so they can get your room prepared for pooch. You will then get your tailormade hamper when you arrive along with a bed, bowls and a turndown treat. You even get your own pet concierge to cater for all your four legged needs! Careful though, as your pooch may decide he prefers to live here!

The Milestone is a Red Carnation Hotel who have 5 other dog friendly hotels in London.

The Swan, Esher

This hotel is just outside London in leafy Surrey but is well worth a visit if not for the food alone!

Chef and dog lover Jose Pizarro runs the restaurant at this village pub and we doggies are welcome to stay overnight in 2 of their rooms.

You can expect the same warm welcome and excellent Spanish cuisine as with all Pizarro restaurants in London. Nacho is hoping his Spanish connections will earn him some extra Jamon when he visits!
