Our stay at dog friendly luxury rural retreat Bethnal&Bec

Bethnal & Bec dog friendly retreat Hertfordshire

There are some places where, from the moment you arrive, you feel all your worries slip away and you just say "aaaaah...."

Well Bethnal&Bec Luxury Stays is one of those places. As soon as you walk through the door, you think "yes I could stay here forever."

The retreat is for grown-ups (and dogs) only and there are 3 self-catered accommodations, Bethnal, Bec and The Foaling Box. Pooches are welcome in Bethnal or Bec.

We stayed in Bethnal for 1 night in May and after a boring drive in the car with grey skies looming, we arrived in Hertfordshire just as the sun came out. Which meant we could take advantage of the wonderful garden.

The garden is completely secure to keep adventurous pups from escaping and overlooks the paddock. It has everything the humans need to relax. There is a comfy outdoor sofa, a table for al fresco dining, an outdoor deep soaking bath, fire pit (which we used when the evening turned chilly).

Inside there is a kitchen area, sofa, large TV, spacious bed and a luxurious roll-top bath with a viewing window. There is a separate bathroom with a huge rainforest shower and complimentary Aromatherapy Associates products.

The humans loved all the extra little touches like the record player with a selection of vinyl LPs and lots of things we could take photos with. We loved the treats that were left for us and that there was extra treats and toys you could buy during your stay.

After the humans finished unpacking and had a couple of beers, we went to explore the paddock and meet resident dog Hendrix.

The paddock is accessed directly from the garden and leads to an enclosed, shady path where you can go for walkies and sniff out the local talent!

full English breakfast at Bethnal & Bec

Obviously, we have to talk about the food! Breakfast is included and you will find a box with all the goodies in your room to suit all dietary requirements. We always insist ours go for the full English so we get to share the bacon.

The accommodation has a Staples Pantry with all the essentials for cooking your own food and things like cereal, rice, pasta. There is even a tipple of gin and whiskey.

The freezer is stocked with ready prepared meals and some other extras, plus there is an honesty larder. All these items can be easily purchased using the digital pad in the room.

Our humans pre-booked the Pimp My Pizza dine-in box and all the ingredients to make 2 delicious pizzas were waiting for us, along with the pizza oven in the garden.
You can see what dine-in boxes are available for your stay on the website.
(Our silly humans burnt their pizza so we won't embarrass them by showing you a photo).
