Freddie

Freddie is a 10 year old cockapoo who lives in Chelsea with Belinda and Edwin. You will often find him “posing” around London, a trick he learnt on his Kennel Club Gold Training and now he never misses an opportunity to use it.

Belinda and Edwin previously shared their lives with a Golden Retriever called Blondie who filled their lives with love and fluff but when they heard that cockapoos made great therapy dogs and didn’t shed, they decided to find a breeder. When Freddie came into their lives he immediately captured their hearts and they now can’t imagine life without him.

Freddie has a very gentle nature and is super smart which he puts to good use as a therapy dog. He works at schools as a reading dog, has worked with Scouts and is also a dental phobia dog in a dental practice.

We asked Freddie about his London life:

What do you love most about living in London?

OMD London is truly a place that has a perch for every bird – or in my case a place to perch and pose! I love London because it is so dog friendly, I am allowed to go to so many awesome places with mom and dad. Most importantly Londoners are so welcoming – I get so many cuddles wherever I go. It’s definitely a melting pot of all things fabulous.

We totally agree! What dog friendly places in your local area would you recommend?

There are so many, we are spoilt for choice. The Duke of York Square, Kings Road, Pavillion Road, Sloane Street and Sloane Square are so dog friendly. They have something to suit everyone from fab Italian Manicomio to vegetarian Wulf & Lamb, you can grab an ice cream at The IceCream Union and a slice of green Velvet cake at Matcha and Beyond. AND so many of the stores have treats for us dogs – top tip to my doggie mates – Anthropologie has the best treats behind their counter! And most stores have water bowls – so it defo gets my 10/10. Oh and I can’t leave out Egerton House Hotel for their fab dog friendly afternoon tea.

We are on our way to Anthropolgie right now!! Apart from their treats and ice cream, what other food do you enjoy?

FOOD is my fav … anything anytime. I am so not fussy. I love Forthglade food and biscuits, Bybenji, Slurps, Rockster, Furry chef …… I am drooling just thinking about this question.

So are we! And to walk off all those treats, where do you go?

I love how varied walking in London is. I go from the green of Hampstead Heath to stylishly strutting down Kings Road! My fave walks are those where there are cafes for a snack break, so Battersea Park with the Pear tree Café is perfect too.

When it’s time to take a break from the city where do you like to go on holiday?

I am so lucky to be able travel in the UK with my family – mom and dad have serious separation anxiety when they are away without me – can you blame them?

We love spending time at Summer Lodge Dorset near the Jurassic coast – no not Jurassic Park. I also travel to West Sussex regularly, we found fabulous luxury dog friendly houses to rent when I was 6 months through Luxury Beach House Rentals. The beach is amazing and even though I am not the best swimmer in the world it is definitely my HAPPY PLACE. We also like going to Cliveden House, recently my friend Miss Darcy and I celebrated our birthdays there.

We love to see you in your various outfits. What’s your favourite?

How long do you have? I am partial to a bow tie and bandana. I love Cosy Chic Pet Boutique, they have made me some fabulous custom made bandana’s – especially for some of the charity work I do. Another favourite is Distinguished Dog Company – I just love all their products, I always get comments when I am out and about in them. Fetch&Follow and Growlmama are also my guilty pleasures . And please don’t ask me how many bandanas/ bow ties I own – I am sworn to secrecy.

Apart from just being you, what things do you do that make your humans smile?

I am dentally challenged – I have an underbite – and this always makes everyone smile because it looks like I am always smiling, especially when I am perching and posing.

We love to follow your adventures on Instagram. Who do you like to follow?

I love seeing all my fabulous friends on IG too many to mention. I share many special memories with @missdarcysadventures and @barnabypoo.

@baileydoodle is a therapy dog doing great work, @arnedoodle makes me smile and @amazinggraciedoodle is a a real hippie chick, @hattiekin is a pocket rocket and @adventures_of_handsome_bobby is the sweetest and hottest dood out there.

I also love seeing new friends arrive on IG and following their lives – @ivymaltipoo is so sassy.

What are your some of your favourite Instagrammable places?

My favourite time of year is during Chelsea in Bloom, it is amazing and it is the place where I was first introduced to IG by my amazing mate @dougthepugtherapydog a number of year’s ago. It transforms Sloane Square and Kings Road into a floral masterpiece for all to enjoy and make Instagrammable memories. I am already counting down the days to next year’s Chelsea in Bloom.

What plans do you have for the rest of 2019?

This is my Decade celebration year so I am all about making memories. I celebrated my 10th birthday with Miss Darcy at Cliveden. Getting invited to Crufts 2019 by CosyChic was a highlight. Dog Fest and DogStival were amazing. We partied at Chewton Glen in a treehouse for our gotcha day with Miss Darcy. The highlight of the year will be taking part in Glassdoor Charity Sleepout in October for the 3rd year. Last year we raised over £4000 for the homeless and Dots ( Dogs on the Street London ) .Our team is called Sleeping Ruff – so if anyone fancies joining us for a night out on the street for charity let me know.

You can follow Freddie’s adventures on Instagram @freddieposingcockapoo or even better, come along to our Chelsea Pop-Up Dog Market and meet him in person as he struts his stuff on the catwalk with his pals Miss Darcy and George.
