Bring Your Dog to Work Day

Updated: Jul 2, 2021

Friday June 25th is Bring Your Dog to Work Day!

The day was started in 2014 by our friends at Hownd® and is not only a fun thing to do with your dog but also raises money for doggie charities.

Bring Your Dog To Work Day is an annual nationwide event that raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of dogs. Thousands of businesses and dog owners join in the viral fun in what has become the nation’s best day out (or rather best day in) for dogs! This year, the charities need our support more than ever.

Our working patterns may now look very different, with many of us working from home but we can still make it a day to remember. Visit the Bring Your Dog to Work website to see how you can get involved and which charities you will be supporting.

If you work from home and are getting tired of the same four walls, then why not take yourself, your laptop and your faithful pooch off to a local café or pub for a few hours.

Here are 6 of our favourite dog friendly places who will positively welcome you!

At the Dandie Dog Cafe in Hampstead, doggies could actually be more welcome than humans!

This light and airy café has something for every dog lover. There is a boutique to stock up on your essentials, plenty of cool spaces for your pooch to relax, there's even a bath in case you got a bit muddy on the Heath (that's for the dog by the way) and they also have doggie yoga classes on Thursday evenings.

Dandie Dog Café has to be the best place to Bring Your Dog to Work in Hampstead and if you go there to work Tuesday to Thursday you will get 10% off your food and drink bill. Food is served until 4.30pm and the menu is light, veggie and vegan dishes. This place has the largest dedicated Dog Menu we have EVER seen.

Our friend Cedric is a regular visitor and he has impeccable taste!

The Lass O'Richmond Hill is right next to Richmond Park so perfect to stretch those legs and take a break from working.

This Youngs Pub is very deceiving from its small frontage as inside is large and tables are well spaced. There's an outdoor terrace at the rear too. They even have a car park so you don't have to live nearby to visit.

The staff here are super friendly and they LOVE dogs! They also serve up some delicious food for the humans.

If you book a table to work from The Lass, you will get 20% off their brunch and sandwich menu.

Any London dog owner worth their salt will have taken their pooch to a Megan's Restaurant. If you're a doggie who hasn't been yet, then you need to have a serious word with your human!

Megan's have restaurants in Balham, Battersea, Chelsea, Chiswick, Clapham, Islington, Kensington, Parsons Green, St. Albans, Surbiton, Wimbledon and soon opening in Wandsworth. So there's no excuse as there must be one near you!

Dogs are well looked after at every Megan's with their own beds and plenty of treats from Pooch and Mutt. The humans don't do bad either as the menu of 'Food from Sunny Places' is packed with mouth-watering dishes.

Humans and their 4 legged colleagues are welcome to work at any Megan's and they have plenty of comfy seats, free (strong) Wi-Fi and plug points.

Doggies of Kingston, get your humans to spend some time working at The Canbury Arms! You never know, you might bump into Archie and Nacho as this is their local pub.

The Canbury is a recently refurbished Youngs pub and is a really beautiful space to work from, with a bar, restaurant and large garden. The staff are some of the most friendly you will ever meet and the food is more like a Michelin starred restaurant than a local boozer.

If you make a 'work from the pub booking' you will be seated near a plug socket and you can choose any sandwich, soft drink and unlimited tea and coffee for £15.

If you miss the daily tube ride and the vibrancy of central London, then why not spend Bring Your Dog to Work Day in beautiful Bloomsbury at Victoria House Coffee.

This coffee house serves all day brunch and of course great coffee which the humans rely on to keep them going all day at work.

The staff are super friendly and they ADORE doggies here. We are welcome inside and in the courtyard garden.

The Duke of Cambridge is ideally situated opposite Battersea Park so perfect for a lunchtime stroll to make sure the humans don't work too hard.

There is a small garden at the front and inside is a large, elegant bar with plenty of plug points and Wi-Fi for working. The staff are dog crazy and will make all pooches feel very welcome with plenty of water and treats.

If you book a 'work from the pub' table you can have any sandwich, with fries or salad, soft drink and unlimited tea and coffee for £16.

Then you're in the perfect place to invite your pals to join you for after work drinkies!
