6 places to enjoy National Burger Day

August 27th is one of our favourite days of the year as it's National Burger Day. The dish we inherited from our friends across the pond has come a long way since the days of Wimpy! Now you can get anything in a bun from kobe beef to beetroot and even without the bun for those on a no carb diet. As long as it's patty shaped, it's a burger!

Some places will even create a special burger just for us doggies!

Here are 6 dog friendly places to celebrate National Burger Day with your pooch!

Smith & Whistle, Mayfair

This swanky cocktail bar within the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel is so dog friendly that puppers even have their own menu of pooch friendly cocktails. We celebrated National Burger Day with them last year when they served up a special chicken burger for Archie!

They also serve up a pretty mean burger for the humans complete with gruyere cheese and beer soaked onions.

There is an extensive choice of beers and cocktails to wash it down with.

The staff are super friendly and positively encourage lots of doggie pics being taken in the bar.

The Woolpack, Bermondsey

This is a Young's pub on the very dog friendly Bermondsey Street.

We love the relaxed vibe in this pub and look forward to going back in better weather when we can enjoy their great garden.

The pub is split over 2 levels and dogs are allowed everywhere.

The food is good old pub grub and the humans can get beef or veggie burgers, served with delicious triple cooked chips.

As with all Young's pubs there is a good selection of beers and other drinks.

Gaucho, Hampstead and Richmond

Gaucho is always a firm favourite for meat lovers, which, less face it, includes most pooches!

Hampstead holds regular Doggie Sundays and Richmond is equally welcoming to pooches at all times.

As you would expect from a restaurant that prides itself on its beef, the burgers are fabulous and the chips are to die for. We asked for a little burger for Archie and they were happy to oblige.

Good news - Gaucho are extending the Eat Out to Help Out Discount through September.

The Albert, Kingston

This is our local Young's pub and we have sampled most things on their menu over the years but one we return to time and again is their buttermilk chicken burger.

As with all Young's pubs, we doggies are always very welcome.

The Albert is a large pub with space at the front and an enclosed garden at the rear.

There is a small restaurant area where we dogs don't go but the rest is ours to explore. They even have a dog bar area where we can help ourselves to water and treats.

Cambridge Street Kitchen, Pimlico

This restaurant is within the Artist Residence hotel in Pimlico and is a lovely space filled with colourful art and neon lights.

We doggies are very welcome everywhere, including the hotel.

The humans can get breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner here and they do beef, chicken and veggie burgers.

The hotel and restaurant reopens on September 9th and they are taking bookings now.

Richard 1st, Greenwich

Another Young's pub, this one is right next to Greenwich Park so perfect after a walk with our friend Betsy.

The pub is a decent size with a few tables out front and a large enclosed garden at the rear.

The burger was a big hit with the humans but Betsy was more interested in the chips (she's a bit unusual)!

As you can see, we doggies are made very welcome at the Richard 1st.

The staff made sure we had plenty of water and were happy to have us sit on the furniture.
